This piece marks the beginning of a new series that explores my fascination with objects altered by time, nature, or human intervention.
Central to this creation is a conceptual interplay between time and decay A tourbillon, engineered for precision and the preservation of time, contrasts with a weathered piece of wood ravaged by time itself. This contrast forms a deliberate contradiction, inviting viewers to reflect on the relationship between the two.
By adopting 3D printing, I’ve streamlined my process, balancing rapid production with creative experimentation. While this process initially placed efficiency over aesthetics, I couldn’t resist refining the final piece with brass details, finding a balance between speed and craftsmanship.
With this work, I hope to draw attention to the beauty in things often overlooked. The viewer’s focus will naturally gravitate toward the aged wood, prompting questions about why these elements have been brought together. I welcome open interpretation, valuing the space for personal meaning over immediate understanding.
