No Time is a wall installation that also functions as a clock, created by Thijs Rijkers for the Christelijk Lyceum in Zeist. Moving away from conventional clock design, Rijkers opted for a more intricate and captivating approach. A Geneva Wheel—a mechanical system known for its precise, intermittent motion – was the starting point for this work.
With stock materials like chains and gears, Rijkers constructed an irregular pentagon as the clock’s foundation, selecting five gears to form an engaging and dynamic visual structure. Subtle touches of brass mark the time indicator with a magnifying glass tracking the minutes.
With this unconventional method of telling the time, he hopes to inspire the students to explore their creativity.
