Transient

Transient is a collaborative video installation by Thijs Rijkers and Studio Noralie, a Rotterdam-based visual artist known for scenographic visuals in theatre and dance. Together, they dissolve the boundaries of projection, using steam as a dynamic, ephemeral frame.

Human figures are projected onto a steam condensed glass, appearing so lifelike that reality and illusion blur. A custom-built machine periodically clears the surface, erasing the image and emphasizing the fleeting nature of perception. Transient explores the fragility of reality and making the audience question of they are witnessing projections or real people.
